1739 COMPOSITIONS of MATERIALS

1739 COMPOSITIONS of MATERIALSGautam Shah

Natural or Manufactured materials, we use, are invariably mixed substances of many materials. Some are easily separable, some intimately combined and some identifiable. These mixed substances have many forms, like, compounds, alloys, composites and geometric compositions. Many mixed substances have elemental units arranged in some geometric pattern, but that is not a quality of a composition.

A Composition is a geometric arrangement or configuration. It gains some degree of structural advantage through appropriate shape, size, position, distancing and qualitative exploitation of various materials.

Structural compositions (trusses, bridges, frames, buildings) are geometric-configurations of materials, often assisted by components (nuts, rivets, pins, bearings, etc.). Structural compositions require efficient materials with better and assured results, and so use, Components of composites to form the constituent elements.

A component is a configuration of many materials into a utilitarian product. Component making uses processes many times similar to a composite formation. As a matter of fact, for component manufacturing, the ‘composite formation’ and the ‘component creation’, both occur simultaneously.

Composites come into being, by putting together natural and manufactured materials, to gain superior quality, often different and better than the constituents. The constituents have two distinct roles, either Matrix or Filler. Composites are designed with potential utility, but may not have any operational functionality, till ‘deployed’.

Natural, Manufactured and Composites, all are further shaped, re-formed and geometrically patterned to create Components as well as Compositions.
